I've been a writer since I was very young. On the weekends I'd write short stories and then con my younger sister into performing them for our parents. I know, sounds more like screen plays. I realized that writing was a passion in the 8th grade when we had to do a paper by choosing a picture. I received an F.
Now, I know what you're thinking. Ummm...and this led you to think you were a writer? Yes, you see the reason I received the F is the teacher thought I had copied the story from my mothers "True Romance" magazine. Once my mother spoke with the teacher to assure her I had not done so I received an A and was told I should consider this my field.
I got married instead, had two wonderful children, and stopped writing. Although the kids are still wonderful the marriage, well, let's just say we are both much happier now that we have found our true hero and heroines.
Again, I know you can do these things and still write I just didn't. Oh I'd write but I wasn't involved with a local chapter. I wrote strictly for me. It wasn't very good. I thought it was wonderful. In fact I thought I might just have the next best seller. Once reality set in those manuscripts went to live with the dust bunnies never to see the light of day.
Several years ago I picked up the proverbial pen, okay in my case it was the laptop, and began writing again. I joined RWA, TARA, (my local chapter), and FTHRW. I've taken online workshops, attended workshops, and read books on the craft. Will I ever stop learning? The answer to that is simple. No. In every workshop that we have I learn something new. There's as much to the business side to learn as there is to the craft.
I am currently writing paranormal and romantic suspense. Although my characters in the paranormal have demanded that I write their story now. They show up when I least expect it as well. Shopping while in Dallas I found out there is something with a secret compartment. Who knew? Apparently Grayson did.

My hero is lovingly referred to as Science Guy. Nope, he's not Bill Nye. He is the most amazing man I know. He keeps me going when I think I can't do this. He celebrates with me when something great happens in this journey. When the day job is crazy he reminds me that it's not my real job but my job on the road to publication. I love him!
I have two wonderful children, Melissa and Joey. He really doesn't like to be called Joey but that is who he is to me. My daughter is an amazing 3rd grade teacher. My son is in college and works full time.
My babies are Meshia, the Shih-Tzu, and Sassy, the Chihuahua. Meshia weighs in at 16 lbs and Sassy at 6lbs. They think they are the from the same family since they are only one week apart.

What I like to do in my free time.
First let me ask you, what is free time? You would think once my kids were grown I'd have plenty. Not so much.
But when I do I like to read of course. That was a given. Remember I said I have all those books from my BnN trips.
I love to paint. Mostly flowers and vines but still I enjoy doing it. Anything crafty in general I enjoy. I'm not so great at the scrapbooking though. Very time intensive.
Spending time with family and friends is always great.
I also happen to love Nascar.
